Every word in your story has a job to do and dialogue often works double time. After all, backstory and information are often much more digestible in dialogue than slogging through blocks of prose. Together, we'll explore techniques to keep your dialogue both informative and conversational, both despensing necessary information and keeping your character's voice and personality intact!

Have you ever finished a book and instantly missed the characters? And yet other books you can barely remember their names when you try to tell someone what you've read. In this class we'll explore how to color your characters to make them connect with your readers and breathe life into the page.

I’m so looking forward to participating in the first ever Festival of Literature at Fort Campbell, Kentucky. I will have copies of Ghost Tamer, A Dagger of Lightning and A Horn of Onyx and hope to even have a few paperbacks of the anthology Fighting Words that I have a short story in. Looking forward to meeting this community!

I cannot wait to celebrate the release of A Horn of Onyx with you! This is my very first sequel and whew, what a ride. I’ll be in conversation with Erica Ivy Rogers, who just released the second of her Waking Hearts duology, and of course, my mom will be making cookies again. The event is free but please RSVP so Parnassus knows how many to expect!

I cannot wait to attend Wine and Words, hosted by Plenty Downtown Bookshop. If you haven’t visited Plenty, you absolutely must. It is the cutest store I’ve ever seen. The Wine and Words event takes place at DelMonaco Winery and is an entire weekend of authors, panels, books, and wine. What could be better? More details as they emerge!

Really looking forward to attending the Houston County Library’s book club event! Apparently some of them dress up like cosplayers! I asked, and I am allowed to wear my sword. If you’re in the area, I hope you’ll stop by! For more information, visit the library’s website.

There’s an entire day of fun fantasy events at Parnassus! My portion will be at the end of the day at 4pm where I will be reading relationship cards. I’ll be able to tell the hear and now of any relationship—real life or with your favorite fantasy character—using cards. The only information you need to give me is what the person identifies as: he/she/they. Of course I’m willing to sell any books you may purchase at the time.

So excited to participate in my first event in Knoxville! I’ve actually never been to Knoxville before! I’ve heard AMAZING things about Good Girl Books and cannot wait to participate in the indie bookstore crawl with them. More info as we get closer!

So excited to venture to this adorable small town just 30 minutes from Nashville to celebrate their bookstore’s expansion opening with four other amazing authors! I’ll be signing copies of Ghost Tamer and A Dagger of Lightning (and giving away an ARC of the sequel, A Horn of Onyx). And sharing space with Lauren Thoman (Adult/YA speculative), Lucille James (romance), RJ Jacobs (psychological thriller), and Julian Vaca (YA SciFi). I cannot wait!

I’m thrilled to have Ghost Tamer included in the Author Parade for the Chicago Public Library Awards this year, honoring books with a Chicago Connection. Dean and I have been invited to attend the awards dinner and it will be so nice to say hello to Big Shoulders again for a day while celebrating my “first born” near her second birthday.
