About Me:

As a traditionally published author, I’ll use my experience to help get your novel in shape for the next step. With four years experience working as production director for a small press, I’ll apply my knowledge from that side of the table to help shape your novel. I specialize in adult or older YA books with my favorite genres including fantasy, scifi, romance, paranormal, or a blend!

Reader Report

A full read of your manuscript with a written out report on overarching issues, suggestions for improvement, and gaps related to plot, pacing, character arcs, and worldbuilding. Don’t worry, I’ll also tell you what’s working well! This is best for newer writers or writers with an early draft who want a trusted eye to give them useable feedback. This is also for writers on a budget who need an experienced reader to review their story. Pricing: .004/per word up to 160k words.

Full or partial manuscript critique

A partial critique includes in-line comments and edits on the first fifty pages of your manuscript. My edit letter will focus on how to strengthen your opening while offering options that could improve your work and guide you toward a solution that works best for your vision of your story. $150

A full critique will also include in-line comments and edits on the readability of your sentences. I will highlight basic grammer issues, but this is a devlopemental edit not a copy edit. The edit letter will touch on everything from setting, character development, pacing, and flow. And of course, will also include options you can consider when making changes. .018/per word (up to 150k words)

Copy editing and proofreading

I truly enjoy the nitpickier forms of editing that others tend to shy away from. A full copy edit will check for consistency throughout the novel, including time, setting, character, etc. I’ll also include a style sheet which will cover each character, locations, any notable world specific elements like magical systems and launguage, so you can review them at a glance. I am especially good at pacing fight and action scenes. .01/per word (up to 150k words)

Unlike copyediting, proofreading is more focused on the individual words, including elements like spelling and hyphenation, as well as the formatting of the book. I will point out an inconsistency if it jumps out at me, but usually proofreading is the last coat of polish and is done after a copy edit. $1/per page (12pt TNR double spaced)
