Join me for a class at The Porch in Nashville! Here’s the breakdown:
Action sequences always look amazing in the imagination, but many writers struggle with conveying those scenes effectively on the page. Whether your characters are making love or war, the general techniques are similar. In this one-day class, former internationally competitive fighter and author Meredith R. Lyons will break down considerations before, during, and after your action sequences to create a more effective flow from your imagination to your readers. We'll be looking at examples from Holly Black's The Cruel Prince and Lyons's own Ghost Tamer for fights as well as Christina Lauren's The True Love Experiment and a few Sarah J. Maas samples for the forks. We'll be exploring the different tone you want to achieve with your own personal fighting and forking and how similar techniques can be used in both types of scenes whether you want the action to be clear as a bell or leave a little to the imagination.
