Asking for help can be intimidating. There are three things I believe to be true:
The first ‘yes’ generates confidence and makes it easier to go after the next one.
People, as a rule, want to help where they can.
When you get those yeses, reciprocate. There’s always something you can give back.

If you’re in a creative field and want to make any kind of ‘career’ out of it, the ugly truth is that you have to market yourself. Some people make this look effortless. For many, many artists, it can feel a lot like taking disingenuous selfies. The key is to find a way to market yourself, while giving something useful back and/or having fun. (I didn’t say it was easy, but this is how some people make it look that way.)
